Zumbathon® Charity Event with Curves® Circuit with Zumba Fitness®,

an event benefitting P.I.N.K.

100% of the proceeds will be donated to P.I.N.K

We encourage participants to try Curves® Circuit with Zumba Fitness®. This combines strength training, utilizing 14 hydraulic machines, along with the cardio workout provided by the Zumba Fitness®. The circuit includes one minute on each machine alternating with one minute of dance.  Each team member will have 30 minutes in the circuit. Remaining participants will continue dancing to the rhythms of Merengue, Salsa, Cha cha cha, or Reggaeton. To be able to utilize the circuit machines, Curves®, at Gabriel Brothers Plaza, is opening its doors to a free introduction training two weeks prior to the Zumbathon® Charity Event. Please contact the club at 717-751-7710 to set up your training introduction appointment to the workout machines.  This can be done individually or with your fellow team members.  This is an option but realize you will not be able to use the machines at the event without this introduction session.

Participants will be in teams of 5 and will compete for points.  The top three teams will receive prizes with points awarded for; utilizing the circuit machines, number of minutes participating in dancing the rhythms with Zumba Fitness®,  participation in the breast education mini-seminar, Curves members bringing non-members, and for team spirit. There will be many more ways to earn points, and a great time will be in store for all who participate!

January News

At our January meeting, Marianne Mills from R.O.A.R. (Responsible Ovarian Awarness Required) gave an excellent presentation on ovarian cancer. Many myths were dispelled, and we learned about the symptoms (no, ovarian cancer
is not a "silent killler!") and treatment of the disease. We appreciate
the hard work of R.O.A.R. and look forward to collaborating with this
group in the future!

December 2011 Happenings

In December, we were welcomed to Jeannie Addison's home for a fun social evening
of great food and fellowship. We enjoyed a catered meal and desserts brought by
our members! Best of all, we had time to catch up and talk in a relaxed setting.
Thanks, Jeannie! And thanks to Lisa Fritz for playing "Kelly Kodak" and providing
the photos below!

OCTOBER 2011 EVENTS

Kennard-Dale High School's Field Hockey Team presented "Stick It To Cancer," a special fundraiser and game (vs. West York Area High School) to benefit P.I.N.K.! Coached by Andrea Marsala, the girls sold tee shirts and raffle tickets and solicited business sponsors and other donations totalling over $1,000! The lines on the field were pink, and the girls wore pink bandannas in honor of the occasion.
President Melanie Hady attended the event and received this amazing donation in honor of everyone in P.I.N.K.!

P.I.N.K. (Power in Knowledge)
P.I.N.K. was started in 2005 by four women, all breast cancer survivors, looking to provide a network for other survivors.  The vision was for a network of information and support for those facing the diagnosis of breast cancer. P.I.N.K. has grown over the last seven years and has now become a non-profit organization.

This website was developed by breast cancer survivors to offer information, help and support for women suffering from breast cancer.
